As a part of its clean energy strategy, NJRCEV invests in, owns and operates projects that generate clean power and provide low carbon energy solutions. These solutions benefit its customers, while providing growth opportunities for shareholders. To date, NJRCEV’s approach has focused on commercial and residential solar project development, but with an investment in wind developer OwnEnergy in September 2012, NJRCEV began the next phase of the planned diversification of its clean energy portfolio.

To date, NJRCEV has acquired three onshore wind opportunities through OwnEnergy. The first, acquired in October 2013 and completed in June 2014 is the Two Dot Wind Farm, a 9.72 megawatt (MW) project in Montana. The second project, acquired in February 2014, is the Carroll Area Wind Farm, a 20 MW project in Iowa. The most recent, Alexander Wind Farm, a 48 MW project in Kansas, was acquired in October 2014.

Abundant, affordable and environmentally friendly, wind energy is an important part of the nation’s quest for energy independence. According to the American Wind Energy Association, the United States had over 62,300 MW of wind capacity installed at the end of September 2014.
